Introduction to Basic Question Point Text Chat
InfoEyes Project
Go to http://questionpoint.org to the library log on screen
Type in your user name and password
Click on “Ask” on the top menu bar, then click on “chat” right under “Ask a Librarian”

On your screen, a box will appear that says new chat user. Click OK.
The monitor screen will show the patron name as a clickable link, the patron email address, etc. To take the call, click on the patron’s name
After clicking on the patron’s name, you will get a screen like this which will have the patron’s question and a chat box
Type in your “welcome” and click send
Your message will then appear on the screen
Type a url as http://www.weather.com and the url will become a clickable link in the chat box and transcript they will receive at the end of the session and they will also receive the web page on their browser
When you are done, type a thank you and click “end session” link at the top of the page.
Setting up Scripts
Log in on questionpoint.org
Click the settings bar next to chat
Go to “my scripts” and “My institution’s scripts”
