to download and install a plug-in.
As the plug-in downloads, your video will flicker
and when the installation is complete, you will be asked to open a new browser window,
return to www.infoeyes.org and click on the call button in the upper right hand corner
of your screen - the visually impaired can simply click on this link again to start a session
with a librarian. You will be asked for your first name, last name and email address
in a text box before you are connected. See below for more information

What happens when you initiate a session:
When you initiate a session, by downloading the plug-in, a librarian
will greet you with audio. If you have a microphone, you will be
able to talk to the librarian. If you do not have audio, you can
type text in a text chat box which will appear on the screen.
For Jaws Users
If you are using Jaws as your screen reader, you will need to follow the following steps to communicate
with the librarian during the session: The scripts were written for Internet Explorer version 6.0
or higher
If you are using Jaws version 4,51 (and it must be this version), click here to download
a zip file for a script which will help you to interact with a librarian.
If you are using Jaws version 5, click here to download

Hot keys for infoeyes text chat
Control+Shift+H
brings up a dialog window that has the hot keys definitions in it.
Control+Shift+R
This key stroke allows you to hear what you sent and the reply from the librarian.
Control+Shift+E
This key stroke will put you in the user Edit Window.
How to use the infoeyes text chat.
Bring up the infoeyes web page.
www.infoeyes.org
Click on the ask a question link.
When the next page comes up click on the interact with audio. If this is your first time here a plug in for your browser will be downloaded and installed in your browser.
After the installation is complete close your browser and start over.
Now when you get to the interact with audio link click on it. This will bring up a dialog where you will enter your first name, last name and your e-mail address. Now click on the OK button. This will bring up one of two windows. If the librarian is not available
a wait window will appear. If there is a librarian available
you will here a greeting from the librarian. You now are in the infoeyes text chat. To send a message type it and press enter. To check that you are in the user edit field press shift + control E. You will here edit spoken by jaws. If you tab away from the edit field to check some thing on a web page shift + control E will put you back in the edit field. To review the last message you sent and the librarians response type shift + control + R. The one keystroke to remember is shift + control + h. This keystroke will bring up a dialog window that you can arrow up and down through. This window has all of the key strokes definitions for the infoeyes text chat. Happy chatting.
Instructions and Information on Plug-In for Audio
You need a small (less than 1 MB) browser-plug in to obtain live online
reference assistance. Before downloading this plug-in, check the hardware
and software requirements below. Then go here to download
the plug-in.
The installation automatically provides the correct plug-in for your
browser (Microsoft® Internet Explorer or Netscape®):
- For Internet Explorer,
the installer downloads and installs the plug-in automatically. After
the installation, it initiates an online reference call.
- For Netscape, you
must:
- Download the installer
to a location of your choice (the Windows desktop is a convenient
location)
- Double-click the file after locating it on your desktop (if you
downloaded the installer there), Windows Explorer, or My Computer
to install the plug-in.
- Restart your browser
when prompted to so.
- Return to this page
and click the button again to initiate a live online reference session.
After installation, you should see a button like the one above
in the upper-right corner of your browser toolbar. This button will appear on this page and on
other parts of our Web site.
Clicking the button will begin your audio session with a librarian.
